Coffee & Conversations: No Agenda. Just Show Up.
There is a particular kind of quiet that settles over a veteran when someone finally asks how they are doing and then actually waits for the answer.
That quiet is the whole reason Coffee & Conversations exists.
We launched it on August 1, 2026, at American Legion Post 38 in Fort Myers, and the format could not be simpler. The first Saturday of every month, we put on a pot of coffee, open the door, and leave the agenda at home. No presentation. No sign-in sheet you have to fill out to earn a seat. No one selling anything. You show up, you sit down, and you are among people who understand the weight you carry without needing it explained.
Why no agenda
We run plenty of structured events. The Red, White & Blue Tour has a schedule, a physician, a process. That structure matters when the goal is to get someone through a system.
But healing does not always follow a process. Sometimes the most useful thing an organization can do is stop organizing and simply be present. A conversation that starts about fishing ends up somewhere honest. A veteran who came for the coffee leaves with the name of someone who can help with a problem he had not planned to mention. None of that can be scheduled. It can only be made room for.
What you can expect
- Free coffee. Always.
- People who get it. Veterans, first responders, spouses, parents, adult children. Everyone who carries a piece of this is welcome.
- Resources on request. If you want information about anything we do, from Florida's medical marijuana program to our resource directory, just ask. If you do not, nobody will bring it up.
- No pressure. Come for five minutes or two hours. Talk or listen. Come back next month or do not. The door stays open either way.
When and where
First Saturday of every month, in Southwest Florida. The exact time and location for each gathering are posted on our Facebook page ahead of time. If you are not on Facebook, send us a note and we will make sure you have the details.
A word to the person who is not sure
If you have been reading this and thinking it is not for you, that you are fine, that other people need it more: that is usually the person we most hope will come. You do not have to be in crisis to deserve a cup of coffee and an honest conversation. You only have to show up.
We will keep the pot on.
