Who it is for

  • Veterans and first responders. This is the core of every stop. You get straight education on Florida's medical marijuana program, a chance to meet with a participating physician on site, and, during sponsored campaigns, help with the cost for approved applicants.
  • Family and friends. At tour stops we extend the physician visit to family members who come with you, so the people who support you can get their own questions answered. Details vary by stop, so check the stop announcement.
  • Supporters and partners. Post commanders, sponsors and community organizations are welcome to see the work up close.

What actually happens

  1. Check in. Give us your name, confirm your sign-up, and grab a coffee.
  2. Education. We walk through the process in plain language: qualifying, the physician evaluation, the state registry, the card, the dispensary, and the difference between Florida law, federal law, VA policy and federal firearms law. Ask anything.
  3. Physician evaluation. If you choose to, you meet privately with a state-qualified physician. The physician makes the medical determination. Nothing is guaranteed and nothing is pressured.
  4. Next steps. Approved applicants get clear guidance on the state application, and we follow up afterward so nobody gets lost between steps.
  5. Connection. The part people remember. You will be in a room with people who have walked the same road.

Why signing up ahead matters

Pre-event sign-up is strongly encouraged and is the way to make sure a physician slot and any campaign assistance are ready for you. Walk-ins are welcome, but a spot is not guaranteed. Two forms, two tracks:

What to bring

  • A Florida driver license or ID, or proof of Florida residency
  • Proof of service or first-responder status, such as a DD-214, VA card or agency ID, to show at check-in (we look, we do not keep copies)
  • Your questions. All of them.

Medical records are optional. If you bring them, they are for the evaluating physician to review as appropriate. The Grateful Veteran does not need your medical records for event participation and does not retain them unless a separately approved process specifically requires it.

Your privacy at a tour stop

Two different people may ask you for information, and it helps to know the difference. TGV collects sign-up and check-in information: your name, contact details, and which track you are in, through the approved sign-up form. The physician collects medical information as part of the evaluation, under the physician's own privacy obligations. TGV staff do not sit in on your evaluation and do not receive your medical history.

After the stop

  • If the physician certified you, watch for the state's email about your registry account and card application. Our Florida program guide walks through what comes next.
  • If a campaign is covering your state fee, we will tell you exactly how that works before you leave.
  • We follow up after the stop. If you have not heard from us and have a question, reach out.

Accessibility and accommodations

Tour stops are held at VFW and American Legion halls and community venues. If you need an accommodation to participate, such as step-free access, a quiet space, or help with the form, contact us before the stop and we will do our best to arrange it.
